Geek Drawers

January 27, 2009

First, a bit of business:

Last week, I forgot to thank Jimbob, owner extraordinaire of Lincoln’s Roadhouse, for referring to Billy as a “geek” throughout the evening.  To wit:

“Man it’s great that y’all are out, good to see you.”  (turning to Billy) “But you’re a geek.  Remember that.”

and:

“Wednesday nights are a blast, they really are.  Y’all always put on a good show.”  (turning to Billy) “You’re a geek.”

Thank you, Jimbob, for keeping our massive rock egos in check.

The Drawers have been in the creativity cave over this past week putting together an interesting lineup of music for tomorrow night.  We hope y’all can come out and see what we’ve been up to.  Hopefully we’ll have learned a couple of these songs by tomorrow night, otherwise we’ll be doing an interpretive dance number inspired by the struggle to incorporate less preservatives into processed lunch meat.

In other news, I got a new guitar on Friday.  I admit, and I’m ready to say it now, that my other guitar is a piece of shit.  No, no, it’s okay.  I know it is.  I want to thank everybody who has repeatedly told me that over the course of the year.  The only real fear is that you’ll think the new guitar is a piece of shit, which will actually mean that there’s something wrong with the player…

Anyhoo, this new one is a big, fat, LOUD jumbo gueetar.  I haven’t named this one yet for fear of unintentionally offending someone.

Come on out to Lincoln’s tomorrow night around 9PM and have some drinks, some food, and some marginally entertaining musical stylings (or interpretive dance).

Oh, one more note:  The reasons for not coming to see us last week were rather flat and uninspired.  If you can’t attend, would do us the honor of coming up with more colorful, impressive, and outlandish tales with which to stroke our tender egos?

The winning entry gets a free bowl of soup.
