Atomic Drawers II–Electric Boogaloo

While I'm of the opinion that the use of the term "party" as a verb is both a grammatical and cultural no-no, I still find the poster appropriate.

So now it’s been five unbearable weeks since the big Wilco Mandolin Jam Hand-Burning Party.  Maybe we should rename that song I Am Trying to Burn Your Hand in honor of Billy’s cat.

I thought we’d be back last week, (see the post below) but we found that were grossly unprepared after a couple of painful practices.  This past weekend we were able to bust out a few sing-alongs for a few lucky? folks at my house.  Everybody appeared to have a grand time, even though I kept dropping my pick during Chilly Water.  (An unfortunate after-effect of my hand injury, this problem had nothing to do with the evening’s refreshments.)  We also played a raucous Pink Houses and a gritty Turn the Page for the ten people in attendance.  Major thanks to Counsel Dave and Neighbor Jonathan for sitting in.

A special message for our newest neighbors from down the street:  I hope that this most important  first impression wasn’t a complete failure.  We actually do know songs other than classic rock and southern jam.  At least we think we do.  And USC is a super, super school.  I only take issue with their football program.

So here we find ourselves looking to get our momentum back on a fine Wednesday evening at Lincoln’s Roadhouse.

Look, it’s supposed to be eighty freaking degrees in Denver today.  The sun is shining, the birds are singing, everybody’s in a good mood, and it’s time to kick off your own personal Summer Concert Season with a heapin’ helpin’ of Atomic Hospitality.  And what better way to warm up for your big The Dead show tomorrow night than by spending quality time with The Drawers?

Get out of the house.  Come have a drink and a kickass dinner of fried crawfish and Atomic Drawers at the always effervescent Lincoln’s Roadhouse.

We’re playing somewhere around 9:00.  As always, we’re lookin’ forward to seeing a great crowd!
